Distributed Energy Resources (DER)

We're a team of passionate thinkers and doers, dedicated to building with purpose and clarity. Collaboration and curiosity drive everything we do.

Distributed Energy Resources (DER) are modular energy generation and storage technologies typically under 10 megawatts (MW), located close to end-user consumption, often behind the utility meter. They include linear generation, fuel cells, solar electric panels, and electric vehicles, enhancing grid reliability, reducing energy costs, and enabling cleaner, decentralized power.

Key Aspects of DERs

  • Technologies: Common DERs include Linear Generation (LG), Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC), Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS), PhotoVoltaic (PV), Microgrid Generation (MG), wind, biomass, and Combined Heat and Power (CHP).

  • Grid Interaction: DERs can be connected to the local electric power grid or operate independently (off-grid).

  • Benefits: They reduce transmission energy losses, provide backup power during outages, lower energy costs for users, and improve grid resilience.

  • Demand Management: Energy Management Systems (EMS) allow utilities and consumers to manage demand through demand response programs, utilization and uptime reporting, shifting usage, and utilizing stored energy during peak times.

  • Virtual Power Plants (VPPs): Aggregated DERs can act as a single power plant, providing energy and grid services such as voltage regulation and frequency control.

Examples of DER Technologies

  • Mainspring Energy: Flexible onsite generation for data centers, utility, industrial & enterprise applications. Fuel-flexible, fast to deploy, high-efficiency.

  • Bloom Energy: delivers clean, reliable, scalable onsite power to multiple industries, installed in as little as three months.

  • Solar PV: Rooftop and ground mounted panel arrays on residential or commercial buildings.

  • Battery Storage: Local systems for storing energy, such as home batteries.

  • Electric Vehicles (EV): Used for transportation, or providing power back to the grid (V2G).

  • Micro-grids: Localized energy systems that can operate independently of the main grid.

These resources represent a significant shift toward a flexible and decentralized power system, helping meet increasing electricity demands while supporting environmental goals.

Decarbonization Sustainability

From Class A Office Buildings to Multi-Unit Dwellings, GPG has Clean Transportation and Renewable Energy Solutions to help meet your needs.

We understand that building green is the right thing to do, and the smart thing to do.  GPG leverages technology and financial incentives to help reduce or eliminate reoccurring expenses. We focus on energy savings, to combat your rising utility rates.  It is about helping companies navigate their way through today’s challenges including: a) the changing generation mix and efforts to decarbonize; b) securing fuel and energy supply at reasonable costs; and c) optimizing operational efficiency and customer service. We work with local city municipalities and utilities to turn these challenges into opportunities, to develop their full potential, invest wisely, and become more valuable.

GPG has become synonymous with retail energy and energy suppliers as the most trusted partner for organic customer growth, service and retention.  These past 7 years, we’ve grown into an industry leader, defining several market niches.

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

Take Control of Operating Costs: Electric rates schedules are complex. But one thing is clear: energy rates increased much greater than 6% per year on average in the last five years. GPG knows rate schedules, how your business uses energy, and how you can save. Call us and find out how much.

Protect your business from historically high energy costs that erode your monthly income:

  • Long lasting, fixed cost, local energy production

  • Strong financial incentives and rewards

  • Powerful marketing appeal

  • Environmental leadership
